Koi herpesvirus disease, (KHVD)
Symptoms
Gill anemia, slowly swim on the surface of the water, no appetite, hollow eyed, mucous abnormal secretion.
Cause
It is caused by Koi herpes virus. There is strong infectiousness when the water temperatures is 18℃~25℃.
This disease is recognized as an important disease on trading by WOAH(OIE).
The herpes virus only infects koi and not contagious to human.
Countermeasure
It is important to not bring in the virus.
As countermeasure, being surely inspect the virus when bring in another koi and disinfect the boots or net thoroughly.
It is workable to arise the water temperatures, however, apparently healthy carp that have been cured can still carry the virus.
Increase the water temperatures is prohibited since there is risk to infect the other healthy fish.
