When using medication, what should be done with aquatic weed?
A:Green F, Green F liquid, Methylene blue aqueous solution, Green F Gold Granules, El Berge Ace are incompatible for aquatic weed, they will have aquatic weed depleted. Please take out the aquatic weed from aquarium before using, and then change the water at least for two third, plant the aquatic weed finally. But it is safe for aquatic weed to use Green F Clear, Kan para. D, Green F Gold Liquid, Agten, Agten powder, so you can use medication without taking out the aquatic weed.
How to deal with the aquatic weed which is taken out during the medication?
A:If the medication is 4-5 days long, please keep it in the bucket which filled with water. If possible, adjust the aeration and water temperature when water temperature is low. Although you have many aquariums, please don’t move the aquatic weed to the other aquarium, because the pathogen will be brought into the other aquarium, there is a risk of spreading infection.
Should aquatic weed in a tank where disease has occurred be disinfected?
A:As pathogens may be present on aquatic weed, if possible, please disinfect them. The disinfection method involves soaking the plants in water diluted with Green F Clear at a ratio of approximately 50 times (about 30ml of Green F Clear per 1.5L of water, equivalent to a bottle of water) for about 3 to 5 minutes. After disinfection, thoroughly wash the aquatic weed with water.
Can the medicine and fertilizer of aquatic week be used together?
A:Slow-release fertilizer which can be buried in the soil is no problem, but in the case of aquarium which use fast-acting fertilizer or aquatic plant fertilizer, please change at least two third of water.
Is it also available on baby fish(fry)?
A:For all JPD medicines for Koi are also available for baby fish(fry).
Although only a fish is sick, can medication be used with the other fishes?
A:Pathogens usually occur in the aqua water which we can’t see by eyes. The other fishes are just asymptomatic infection. Basically, please treat with the other fishes together. If the sick fish is isolated to medicate, please also use the same medicine to the original aquarium.
How about the filter during treatment?
A:It is okay to have it keep working continually during treatment; however, in the case of use of the filter materials or activated carbon in zeolite, active ingredients in the medicine will be adhered, so please take out of it completely. Moreover, please also wash the filter materials and filter well after treatment.
Will filter bacteria die when the medicine is used?
A:Most of medicine for Koi will affect filter bacteria, but in the case of sickness occurring in aquarium, filter bacteria can’t be adhered in filter materials, and the water quality becomes unstable, so don’t worry about it.
Should food be given to fish during treatment?
A:Please surely give food although the fish is under treatment. If the fish resists to eat, it will depress their energy, although treat them with medicine is also not work on them. But the quantity of food should be less than usual. Moreover, please take out the rest of food after eating as soon as possible; generally speaking, sick fishes don’t eat food, they will eat more gradually if they feel better. So, it is an indicator to assess the progression we understand the illness and the effectiveness of the medication.
Should water be changed after treatment?
A:Basically, it is unnecessary to change the water after treatment; however, if you want to replant the aquatic weed, please change at least two thirds of the water. Furthermore, in the case of treating the medicine which contains pigment agent, such as Green F liquid, Methylene blue aqueous solution, you also concern about discoloration of the aquarium water, please change the water.
Does the effectiveness of medication can be varied depends on the water temperature?
A:The medicine which melted in the water will be absorbed by blood throughout fish’s gill, and then be transported to each organ and exerts its effect as medication during taking medical bath. The speed of absorption from fish’ grill is depending on the water temperature, so the effectiveness of medication will be varied based on the water temperature. Generally speaking, the best water temperature for medication is 25-28℃ and is good for most of tropical fish. For goldfish and Koi, if the sickness occurs when the best water temperature is under 20℃, it is recommended to rise the water temperature gradually by heater.
Are there any fish unsuitable for medication?
A:What has to particularly pay attention is Anchor worm and fish louse eradication agent (e.g., Refish/Resvermin) can’t be used on tropical fish. In addition, don’t use the medicine on goldfish or Koi when the water temperature is over 28 ℃ or PH 8.0; furthermore, Kan-para can’t be used on large catfish and ancient fish, because they are sensitive to the medicines, you can give a small amounts at a time and then observe the variation.
Is any medicine also available on marine fish?
A:Currently, the JPD medicine for Koi on the market cannot apply to the marine fish.
How to store the medicine? How long is the expiration date?
A:Please keep the medicine is sealed up and stored in a safe space where keeping away from children. It can be stored for three years when it is unopened. Moreover, do not use if the medication has been exposed to inadequate storage conditions, such as moisture or discoloration.
